Margaret Mary (Moriarty) McGrath was sixteen years old when her family immigrated to the United States. Since her arrival she has been active in the Buffalo Irish Community. Initially she served as secretary of the St. Patrick’s GAA and for over fifteen years has been on the Board of the present Buffalo Irish Center on Abbott Road in South Buffalo.
In 1973 she established Scoil Cultúir agus Teanga na hÉireann at the Buffalo Irish Center where she offers weekly classes in Irish Language and Culture both on site at the Center and on Zoom.
A member of the Martin Wynne Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann she serves as language officer and currently is also Provincial and Regional Language Officer for CCE.
