First Minister scores first in San Fran visit

In what was her first visit to the West Coast since her election as First Minister of Northern Ireland, Michelle O'Neill last week met with Irish American and labor leaders in San Francisco.

Over 250 people heard the Sinn Féin vice-president interviewed by local activist Nóra Scally onstage at the Irish Cultural Center on Friday past while the previous day she had been guest of honor at a labor leaders lunch which was backed by Mike Casey of the Hotel workers union and Charley Lavery of the Operating Engineers.

Before departing the city, the First Minister also visited the Robert Emmett statue, which enjoys prime position in Golden Gate Park, and was briefed on plans for an An Gorta Mór memorial in San Francisco.
