Roots expert to help make sense of U.S. census records

The Irish Family History Forum will meet this Saturday morning, Jan. 17, at the Freeport Memorial Library, 144 West Merrick Road, Freeport, N.Y. 11520.

This month’s speaker, the genealogist Kerri Tannenbaum, who is a contributing editor of the Forum’s Newsletter and also runs her own genealogy company, Family Dot Connector, will explain the fundamentals of using census records, including federal, state, and other censuses. Attendees can learn how census records have evolved over time, how to locate and interpret the records, and how to use the information to build your family tree and trace ancestors across multiple generations. The meeting begins at 10 and the main presentation is at 11 a.m. Register at www.ifhf.org and check there for updates.
