Sisters seek to bridge divides

The Congregation of Sisters of St. Joseph and the Well Spirituality Center are sponsoring a national conference on Zoom called “Bridging the Divides, Tending the Gap” on this coming Friday and Saturday. 

“Many are tired of divides, disagreement and distancing over hot button issues and are ready to stop the shouting and start the healing,” the two organizations said in a statement. For more details, click here.

They are partnering with Fetzer Institute and the CSJ retreat centers for the two-day conference. 

Irish-American songwriter Sr. Kathy Sherman CSJ is among the organizers, while Sr. Helen Prejean, CSJ, author of “Dead Man Walking,” will be among the speakers.

Also listed are: Vernice Solimar, PhD, who will speak on “Spiral Dynamics Integral as a framework for understanding”; Diane Benscoter, recently featured in the Aug. 29 edition of CBS’s “60 Minutes,” on “How psychological manipulation works to divide us”; Maka Akan Najin Black Elk on “Healing Historical Harm; Arlie Hochschild, PhD, on “Building an Empathy Bridge over Churning Political Waters”; Katharine Hayhoe, PhD, an evangelical Christian who was named one of TIME‘s 100 Most Influential People and a United Nations Champion of the Environment, on “Science in a Fact Free World.”

The Congregation of the Sisters of St Joseph is a religious community of nearly 500 vowed Catholic women and over 500 lay associates who live and minister in the U.S. and around the world.
