Michael McCormack

Job Description? Pennsylvania State Constablr / Law Enforcement Officer EMS Emergency Services and Search and Rescue Specialist.

Why I chose this career? I chose this career path when I was 16 Years Old. I have always been drawn to helping people in emergencies where life and death sometimes is a fragile balance where my commitment has continually has gotten stronger throughout my 50 years of service to my Country and the communities that I serve.

Proudest moment of my career? The Proudest moment in my life is a difficult question to answer; However, I will give you my top 3 Proudest moments and you may decide.

1.     I was hired by The NY CITY EMS as a Medic. I delivered my first of 24 babies on Christmas Eve 1977. The parents were poor immigrants and when I delivered their First Child which was a little girl. The proud parents named the girl after me. That being Michala.

2.     My next proudest moment was reviving a member of the FDNY which had a heart attack during operations at an active fire scene.

3.     Last but certainly not least was recovering A huge torn American Flag that once flew atop the World Trade Center on Sept 11th 2001. I and my team recovered the Famous Ground Zero Flag from 3 stories under the rubble of what remained after The World Trade Center was brutally attacked and subsequently destroyed.

Something people would be surprised to know about me... That I have also been a HUMANE SOCIETY. S.P.C.A. POLICE OFFICER FOR OVER 25 YEARS.

Biography: Michael was born at 11:58 am on November 28 1958. I was raised by my grandparents Joseph and Charlotte Callan. Unfortunately, they were killed 21 days apart. My grandfather died from an auto accident where a drunk teenager crossed lanes and hit my grandparents head on in Northeast Pennsylvania. My Grandfather died instantly. The police never even knew my grandmother was in the car as she was ejected through the windshield and landed over an embankment in over 5 feet of snow. She laid there over 4 hours and nobody knew she was even there. It was not until a smart tow truck driver found her pocketbook and a single shoe in the car when the police conducted another search and finally found my grandmother some 5 hours later. She passed away 22 days later from complications from the injuries sustained in that accident. I am the only living member of my family left. I have a childhood friend of almost 50 years who has now adopted me as her stepbrother so I would not be alone in this world anymore.
