Kenneth Kinsman
Job Description? I am an Energy Service Representative for Con Edison performing residential and small commercial project management for electric and gas requests. I also handle the inspections of the contractor's installations and issue the work orders to the proper department to energize the customer. We also are on the Damage Assessment/ Road Closure team in the aftermath of storms where there is large scale damage to the Overhead system. In addition, as the first employee at residential gut renovations, many times I have to call an Overhead or Gas crew to come make the property safe by disconnecting our electric and/or gas services. I have also been on the Medical Aid Response Team at our facility in Rye attending to employees requesting first aid or in need of a call to 911.
Why I chose this career? I have been at Con Edison for 35 years and 14 years in my current role. After many years in the office, I wanted to pursue a more fulfilling role in the field in Westchester.
Proudest moment of my career? In 2011, an employee suffered a cardiac event in the men's room and was unconscious. Our team jumped into action and a myself and another MARS member deployed the AED device on him and continued with CPR until EMTs arrived. The victim was a friend of mine and ultimately lived for years after receiving a pacemaker and defibrillator. He retired comfortably until his passing last year. He would call the two of us on his birthday every year to thank us.
Something people would be surprised to know about me... I have skied all over North America including Canada and the Rocky Mountains as well as the east coast. I enjoy the outdoors as well as the cold winter months.
