If Catholic Republicans/Nationalists insisted on marching through Protestant areas in Northern Ireland I would be the first to condemn it, as should all right-thinking people. Whence this Orange Order compulsion for Protestant supremacy? That is, of course, a rhetorical question.
Supremacy and anti-Catholicism is blatantly enshrined in the British Constitution. So much so that King Charles had to vow to preserve Protestant supremacy in his 2023 Coronation.
And it’s to that bigotry and anti-Catholicism that the Orange Order is dedicated. Hence the pathology of needing to march down Garvaghy Road.
