Today we mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
The events of that terrible day are being remembered in many parts of the world.
Here in the U.S. there are ceremonies around the country but most especially in Lower Manhattan, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
The accompanying photo - which is on the front page of the current edition of the Echo - was taken last year at the 9/11 Memorial Garden in Kinsale, County Cork. There has been a memorial event there today too.
As well as formal gatherings to honor and remember the 9/11 victims, countless individuals are remembering in their own hearts and minds.
In recent weeks we have covered the extraordinary walk across America by Galway man Fergus Farrell.
Fergus is one of those countless individuals. He is dedicating each and every mile covered today to the lost of 9/11. He is not too far from Shanksville, where hero passengers on Flight 93 gave their own lives to save others.
We remember the fallen of that terrible day and in the years after as a result of 9/11-related illness. We stand with the loved ones who still grieve. We will never forget.
