If you are in the New York area, a proud Irish American and keen to help cement the peace process via mutually beneficial transatlantic links, then the New York-New Belfast Conference on 18 June is for you.
For 17 years, the conference has brought together business leaders, innovators, policymakers and members of the Irish-American community to strengthen the ties between Belfast and the world's greatest and second-greatest city (you get to rank them yourself).
Karen Kerrigan, a native New Yorker who is founder and CEO of the national Small Business Economic Council will join us to speak to the crucial role of SMEs in building prosperous communities. While Alison Metcalfe who heads up Tourism Ireland in North American will lead a discussion on Belfast's impressive record of hosting major events (ahead of this year's Fleadh Cheoil).
Made possible by principal sponsor KPMG Ireland, this year’s conference will focus on how Belfast continues to grow its international reach — through innovation, talent, entrepreneurship, tourism and global partnerships. The programme reflects a city that is increasingly confident about its future and determined to project that ambition internationally.
Among the organisations helping tell that story is Ulster University, one of this year’s conference sponsors and a major force behind the groundbreaking Studio Ulster project.
A strong Belfast City Council delegation, led by the Lord Mayor, will join us in New York to set out Belfast's stall.
This year, all eyes will be on Office of the NYS Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli amid hopes that he will announce another round of investment for companies in the North.
Tickets for the New York-New Belfast conference are available online.
