Tailltean Cup draw

The draw for the first round of the Tailteann Cup competition was made this week and the Round One games will be played the weekend after next. The pairings are: Carlow vs Antrim, Clare vs Offaly (both Saturday, May 9), Fermanagh vs Longford, Laois vs Wicklow, Sligo vs Tipperary, Waterford vs London, Wexford vs Limerick and Cavan/Down/Westmeath v. Leitrim (Sunday, May 10). We have a new format for the second-tier football competition this year. In round 2A the eight winners from Round One will be drawn against each other, with the first team drawn having home advantage. In Round 2B the eight losers from Round One will be drawn against each other, with the first team drawn having a home venue. Then we will have Round 3 in June, preliminary quarter-finals, quarter-final and semi-finals with the final due to be played in Croke Park on July 11.
