The attacks on 9/11 continue to reach out and hurt New Yorkers.
Liam Cusack is one of them.
Liam, a native of County Galway but a New York City resident for more than forty years, is fighting cancer and a form of muscular dystrophy, both linked to 9/11 exposure.
According to his nephew, Bill Cusack, Liam's savings have been sapped dry by all the required medical treatment..
"I started a GoFundMe page that has helped a lot," said Bill.
"We are just $2000 away from our goal."
Liam, - who is a journalist and whose career includes 15 years at the Daily News - has filed for a settlement with the 9/11 Victim's Compensation Fund.
His family is waiting for the hoped for positive response.
