New Dublin senior football supremo Ger Brennan is loading his backroom team with some heavyweight names, including legendary goalkeeper Stephen Cluxton who is joining fellow Dublin former stars Dean Rock and Denis Bastick.
Also on board will be four-times Sigerson Cup winner with Dublin City University, Professor Niall Moyna, who was part of Brennan's management team in Louth for the past two years.
Said Dublin county board chairman Ken O'Sullivan: “I'm delighted to see Dean, Denis and Stephen get involved with the management of the Dublin Senior Football team, having previously given so much to Dublin GAA during their playing careers.
“All three are among the most decorated players the game has ever seen and have been part of panels that have brought historic levels of success to Dublin GAA over the last 15 years.
“Niall has also played a key role in the success and growth of Gaelic Games in the county with Dublin, with St Vincents and with DCU at colleges level,” he stressed.
It is still to be worked out if Cluxton’s inclusion will spell the end of his reign as the county’s No 1 as he turned 44 for the new championship season after manning the goal through the championship season just ended.
Without explanation, he withdrew for two-years following their six-in-a-row success in 2020, before returning to help the side to their All-Ireland success in 2023.
Former scoring sensation Rock won eight All Irelands while midfielder Bastick won five before retiring in 2017.
