Seven Garda fighters – two of them women -- take on opposition from the Fire Department of New York [FDNY] and local clubs in the ninth annual “Thrilla at Camilla” at St. Camillus Church, 99-15 Rockaway Beach Blvd in Rockaway, Queens, this Friday.
The outdoor event, which begins at 7:30 p.m. [gates open at 6:30 p.m.], includes other bouts pitting FDNY boxers against local fighters from the New York area.
One of them matches Dundalk native Timmy Egan, a recent MSG Boxing Ring Masters 165-pound novice titlist, against Andrew Tanzi of FDNY Ladder 174, in a light heavyweight contest. Egan represents Roscommon transplant Donal Ward’s Astoria-based Bua BoxingClub.
