Knights Funding Boosts Queens Parade

The holy month of March commenced with a picturesque day at Rockaway Beach where the 50th Anniversary Queens County Saint Patrick’s Day Parade was held on Saturday, March 1.

The parade was led by Grand Marshal Terrance Mullin of Belle Harbor, New York.

According to parade organizers, the New York City Knights of Saint Patrick, steadfast in its dedication to supporting regional Irish cultural events and Saint Patrick’s Day parades, was delighted to make a substantial donation of $2,500 to the Queens County Saint Patrick’s Parade Committee.

This generous contribution will ensure the annual pre-parade breakfast, providing a delightful start to the festivities, said the organizers.

Knights of Saint Patrick members, including Chairman John Tully, Secretary Martin Cottingham, Dr. James McLaughlin, and Brian J. Sharkey, presented the donation to Parade Chairman Michael A. Benn at the Rockaway Beach Knights of Columbus hall.

McLaughlin was honored as the Honorary Grand Marshal, while Sharkey served as a Deputy Grand Marshal.

Queens Parade Chairman Michael Benn, meanwhile, is readying himself to lead the New York Saint Patrick's Day Parade on March 17 as its Grand Marshal for 2025.
