Michael Flatley Diagnosed With Cancer

Dance star Michael Flatley has been diagnosed with cancer.

The 64-year-old Riverdance and Lord of the Dance front man has been diagnosed with an “aggressive form of cancer,” but beyond that no details have been released.

Said a statement issued on behalf of Flatley: “Dear friends, we have something personal to share. Michael Flatley has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. He has undergone surgery and is in the care of an excellent team of doctors. No further comments will be made at this time. We ask only for your prayers and well wishes.”

Flatley, born in Detroit to Irish parents and raised in Chicago, today lives mostly in Monte Carlo and Fermoy, County Cork.

Twenty years ago, Flatley successfully battled skin cancer. After recovery he became a campaigner on behalf of cancer research. Over the years the Flatley Foundation, through the Ireland Funds, has donated to a number of Irish charities.
