Martin McGuinness

A Second And a First For Martin

A second annual Chieftain's Walk in memory of Martin McGuinness is being planned for next month in New York.

And an inaugural dinner in aid of the peace foundation named after McGuinness is also in the works.

McGuinness passed in March, 2017. His memory has lived on in multiple ways, not least by way of the walk designed to honor him while raising money for the Martin McGuinness Peace Foundation.

The inaugural "Chieftain's Walk" in Ireland took place in 2018. It was put on hold due to Covid-19 but there was a 2021 walk on Inch Island in County Donegal.

Registration and entertainment will begin at 10 a.m. at the Irish Hunger Memorial in Battery Park City, 290 Vesey Street in lower Manhattan. Opening remarks will be delivered by Senator Schumer with the walk stepping of at 11 a.m. Registration on RACEROSTER.

The Inaugural Martin McGuinness Peace Foundation Dinner will follow three days later, on Wednesday, September 21 and will be held at Rosie O'Grady's Manhattan Manor, 201 W. 52nd Street in Midtown Manhattan. The special guest will be North Belfast MLA Gerry Kelly.
