During his stay Minister Murphy attended the White House reception and Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s lunch on Capitol Hill.

The minister addressed the NI Bureau St. Patrick’s Day event and also spoke at the “Democratic Renewal in Divided Times: Reviving the Ambition and Optimism of the Good Friday Agreement” panel discussion attended by Senator Chris Murphy.

Said Murphy: “This visit has been an important opportunity to re-establish relationships in person after the two year Covid hiatus.

"The United States played a pivotal role in the peace process and continues to support peace and prosperity in Ireland. As we head towards the 25th Anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement it was reassuring to hear that America’s commitment to the Good Friday Agreement remains steadfast.

“It has been fantastic to meet with business leaders, senators, members of congress, academia and students during my time here. I had the opportunity to highlight the positive transformation that has taken place in the North and that we are a great place for economic investment.

“This visit was important in maintaining and nurturing our deep connections with the United States.”
