Molly Clancy obituary

On Monday, September 13th, Mary “Molly” Clancy nee Brady passed away in New York City at the age of 94.  She was  preceded in death by her husband, Alan, and her son, Alan Jr., and her  parents, Julia nee Dalton and Daniel Brady. 

She is survived by her four children: Maura, Sheila, Donal, and Sean, brothers, Danny, Tony, Jim, and sister, Maggie, seven grandchildren, Sarah, Jack, Jane, Aoife, Alan, Niall, and Aisling, two great-grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was born in  Mullaghoran, County Cavan on April 28th, 1927.

She emigrated to New York City in 1947 in time to see her brother, Phil, win the All-Ireland football final versus Kerry in the Polo Grounds. She made homes afterwards in Monaghan Town and Castleknock, County Dublin.

She was an avid GAA fan throughout her life and was a camogie player in her youth. She devoted her life to her family, friends, and her faith.

A wake will be held in Campbell’s Funeral Home on Madison Avenue and 83rd Street on Thursday, September 16th from 5 to 8pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 17th at the  Holy Family Church on 47th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Francis Pope Memorial Foundation.
