Poetry lines and political punch lines

Former vice president Joe Biden formally accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for the presidency on the fourth and final night of the party's convention. The final night highlighted Mr. Biden's Irish Catholic roots and also cast light on two of Ireland's greatest poets. The broadcast of the virtual convention showed Biden, who has battled a stutter all his life, helping young people who also stutter by using the poetry of W.B. Yeats. And in his acceptance speech, Mr. Biden quoted from Seamus Heaney and delivered Heaney's famous "hope and history rhyme" line from his work "The Cure At Troy."
