Zooming in from Belfast

On Monday, May 11, The MP for North Belfast, Sinn Féin's John Finucane, held a zoom meeting with U.S.-based supporters. During the hour-long session Finucane covered a range of issues, not least the fight against Covid-19 on both sides of the border, the recent threats by loyalists directed at politicians and journalists in the North, and the talks aimed at forming a new government in the South. Mr. Finucane reiterated his party's position that party leader, Mary Lou McDonald, should be the next taoiseach as Sinn Féin secured the largest number of first preference votes of any party in the February general election. The online meeting was hosted by Jennifer Frankola-Crawford, president of the Brehon Law Society of New York.
