The Celtic Foundation is hosting its third annual New York City Gala, which will be virtual this year on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Lisbon Lions legend Jim Craig will kick off the Gala with a welcome message. Two other very special live guests, music icon and life-long Celtic fan Rod Stewart and Celtic’s captain Scott Brown will also take part in the evening. There will be musical performances by Celtic Park favorite Liam McGrandles. Registered guests will be allowed to make requests.

The Gala will also include a pledge drive and live and silent auctions.

Celtic Football Club was founded by Sligo-born Brother Walfrid in 1887 with the goal of alleviating poverty in the immigrant Irish population in Glasgow’s East End. Since then, the club has maintained strong ties with Ireland and the Irish diaspora, as evidenced by the more than 160 Celtic Supporters Clubs worldwide.

The club and the foundation have also maintained their commitment to charity. The annual galas in New York have raised significant funds for organizations on both sides of the Atlantic. This year proceeds will go to the Football For Good Fund, which was founded last March in response to COVID-19. Since then, the fund has risen to over $900,000 and has worked with a host of partners to provide urgent food and essentials to those who are vulnerable. The fund’s partners include two based in New York — Coalition for the Homeless and Children’s Aid.

Registration here includes an option for a charitable 501(c)-(3) contribution. Said Seán O’Dowd, an ambassador for the foundation in New York City, “Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated, but do not feel obligated in any way as we understand these are trying times for many.”
