Ted McCarthy, (center of photo) Sergeant at Arms at American Legion Charles N. Bajart Jr. Post #1122 on McLean Avenue in Yonkers, is thanking local merchants for donations to the post’s "Jar in the Bar" program which sees jars in local businesses where people can contribute funds to buy supplies for troops deployed overseas. The post’s ladies auxiliary members buy supplies on a monthly basis, box and ship them. To date, the post has shipped over 2200 boxes to troops abroad. Thus far the local merchants participating in the program are: Frankie's Tavern Mosholu Avenue, Bronx; Corner Pocket McLean Avenue, Yonkers; Just One Tavern, Katonah Avenue, Bronx; River's Edge Bar & Restaurant, McLean Avenue; McLean Avenue Bagel Café; The UPS Store, McLean Avenue; Hillside Meat & Deli Market, Bainbridge Avenue, Bronx; The Butcher's Fancy, McLean Avenue; Danny Mac's, McLean Avenue; Merk's Chemist, McLean Avenue; McLean Avenue Liquor & Wine, and Downey's Bar & Grill, Mosholu Avenue, Bronx.
