Breaking: Trump Irish visit cancelled

The visit by President Donald Trump to Ireland in November has been cancelled.

Reports in Irish media outlets have confirmed that the visit, announced on the Friday before Labor Day, will not now go ahead.

There has been no official announcement as yet from the White House and no indication that the visit will be rescheduled.

Mr. Trump was expected to visit Ireland for two days on his way back from November 11 Armistice Day commemorations in France.

Significant street protests were being organized in Ireland in anticipation of the presidential stopover.

Mr. Trump, who owns the Doonbeg Golf Resort in County Clare, was last in Ireland in 2014 but then as a businessman and private citizen.
