Lamb sworn in, new campaign underway

Congressman Conor Lamb

To say that life is a bit of blur these days for Conor Lamb might be understating things a bit.

Lamb won a special election to Congress last month in Pennsylvania’s 18th district.

The Democrat was sworn in as a member of the House of Representatives last week by House Speaker Paul Ryan.

Now Lamb is contemplating another election in November, this time for his state’s new 17th district which has taken shape after Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court redrew the state’s congressional district boundaries.

Before the midterm outing, however, Lamb faced a Democratic primary set for May 15.

That no longer likes much of a hurdle after the Irish American’s two main rivals for the party nomination dropped out of the contest.

So Lamb, fresh to the job, will face voters as an incumbent in November - but also, and again as a result of redistricting, will be battling an incumbent, Republican representative Keith Rothfus.

One advantage that Lamb will enjoy this time around is that his new Pittsburgh area district is also where he lives.

The district also contains a portion of Lamb’s newly won/old 18th district.
