It’s Mayo at the bell

Margaret Duffy, a native of Charlestown, Co. Mayo, and chair of the Board of Directors of the New Ireland Fund, Inc., had the honor of ringing The Opening Bell of the New York Stock Exchange on March 13. The New Ireland Fund, Inc. is a closed-end investment company managed by KBI Global Investors (North America) Ltd. “KBIGI” is a wholly owned subsidiary of KBI Global Investors Ltd., which is based in Dublin and is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. Duffy, who is an advisor to the County Mayo Foundation, was joined by KBI Global Investors CEO, Sean Hawkshaw. The occasion was to mark the fund’s recent successful capital raise and Ireland’s sustained economic recovery. It is the only actively managed closed-end registered investment company listed on the NYSE that invests primarily in Irish equities. The County Mayo Foundation, meanwhile, is organized and operates as a non-profit corporation under the non-profit corporation law of the State of New York. Its purpose is to support initiatives that strengthen civic engagement and support communities across County Mayo. The foundation also supports people and non-profit organizations in the United States of America who have ties to County Mayo.
