‘Emerald City’ debut in Queens

Mary Murphy will be guest speaker at film screening

The award-winning film “Emerald City,” which chronicles the changing face of Irish immigration through the eyes of Irish immigrant construction workers, will make its borough debut at Queens College on Wednesday, March 14, in LeFrak Concert Hall. It will be followed by a question and answer session with filmmaker Colin Broderick and actors from the film. The presentation will feature Queens College graduate Mary Murphy, an Emmy Award-winning WPIX reporter and the daughter of Irish immigrants, as guest speaker. There will also be a range of performers including the Niall O’Leary Irish School of Dance. The evening begins at 6 pm with a reception, performances and remarks. The film will be screened from 7.30 to 9 p.m. immediately followed by the Q&A and a closing musical performance. The event will benefit the college’s Irish Studies Program, one of the oldest such programs in the nation. More at www.qc.cuny.edu
