Patrick Hyland stops Archuleta in 4th

Undefeated super featherweight Patrick Hyland used a vicious body attack to set up a fourth round TKO win over the veteran Frankie Archuleta at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in upstate Poughkeepsie last Saturday.

The Dubliner had Archuleta on the canvas twice in their scheduled ten-round main event on the “Irish Invasion” card and was pounding away at his man when referee Benji Estevez stopped the contest.

The result upped Hyland’s record to 26-0 with 12 KOs, while Archuleta, who’s 36 and fights out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, dropped to 27-10-1 [14 KOs].

Nicknamed “The Punisher,” Hyland came out in the first round throwing hard body shots. He dropped Archuleta in the first and third rounds and strafed him with stiff jabs, solid combinations and a sustained body attack.

Archeluta fought back bravely but in Hyland faced a much stronger, younger and aggressive foe.

“It was a good fight but I could have done a little better,” Hyland, who’s 28, said after the bout. “He's a tough guy who hit me with a couple of good shots. I got him with some good shots in the fourth when it was stopped. I'm a contender, 26-0, and fighting here in the United States. I'm ready for anybody at 126 pounds.”

Based in upstate New York, Hyland is slowly raising his stock as a potential world title contender. He’s managed by Brian Burke and trained by former world bantamweight titlist Tracy Harris Patterson.

"Irish Invasion," watched by over 1,500 fans, was presented by Final Round Promotions [of which Burke is a co-partner], in association with Team Snooki Boxing and Bob Duffy's Ring Promotions, and sponsored in part by Title Boxing.
