Minister lauds parade committee

Nothing beats a little well deserved acknowledgment - except a little more of the same.

Ireland's Minister for Small Business, John Perry, has congratulated the New York St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee for its inclusion in the recent Irish Echo Small Business 50 awards event held at Rosie O'Grady's in Manhattan.

"It gives me great pleasure to send my personal greetings, to honor and commend the outstanding achievement of the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee on being included in this year's "Irish Small Business 50," Perry, who is a TD from County Sligo, said in his congratulatory message.

Added Perry: "For 250 years the parade committee have successfully endeavored to enhance and enrich the lives of Irish Americans by proudly proclaiming their Irish heritage and traditions through the staging of the St. Patrick's Day Parade, year after year, all while bringing a significant benefit to New York City through the business and revenue the event creates. This I have witnessed on a first hand basis, through my work and engagement with the parade committee, and my participation in the parade over many years.

"To the men and women of the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, under the guidance of Chairman John Dunleavy, and Executive Secretary Hilary Beirne, to the many good friends I have made in New York over the years, and to all being honored in the "Irish Small Business 50", on behalf of the Irish Government I say, Comhghairdeas go leir, agus rath leanúnach don todhchaí."
