Echo's 40 under 40 marks five years

The Irish Echo's annual 40 Under 40 Awards gathering will mark five years on the go this week when the class of 2012 gathers at Rosie O'Grady's Manhattan Club on Thursday for an evening of celebration and acknowledgment of achievement and success.

The 40 Under 40 event has become one of the most popular in the Irish American calendar, and in this year's honorees there is both a deep well of talent and extraordinary variety in terms of career paths chosen and pursued.

As is always the case when people gather together in New York City, or indeed anywhere in the nation for that matter, it is right to remember that our ability to convene and celebrate in peace and security is something to be truly cherished and never taken for granted in this troubled world.

In this vein, honorees at Thursday's celebration will have the opportunity to add a stitch to a 9/11 memorial U.S. flag that has toured the United States in recent years. It promises to be a very special evening. Our special 40 Under 40 supplement begins on Page 17.
