Brooklyn Irish to mark battle

Brooklyn's Irish will this weekend remember the heroics of the "Maryland 400" at the 1776 Battle of Brooklyn.

A series of commemorative events are being organized by the borough's Irish American Parade Committee and will include a series of commemorations on Saturday, August 20th in the Prospect Park neighborhood.

The commemorations will mark the opening of Battle of Brooklyn Week, the 235th anniversary of which falls this year. Ceremonies conclude Sunday, August 28 with a series of tributes, reenactments and a wreath- laying at Green-Wood Cemetery.
