Hopes rise for GAA player's recovery

A young Gaelic footballer who is in a coma after suffering after an incident during a game in San Francisco is showing some signs of improvement.

But while hopes are rising for Mark McGovern (22) and the Fermanagh native is responding to well to treatment, it is yet to early to say how his recovery will ultimately progress.

McGovern remains in critical condition, according to reports.

It is still unclear just what caused the injury but reports have stated that two witnesses told local police that a player on the opposing team, Celts, stood over the prone McGovern and said, "you won't get up from that."
