Meeting Ryanair half way?

Irish budget airline Ryanair has indicated its interest in operating across the Atlantic on more than one occasion in recent years.

And one of the possible U.S. destinations eyed by Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary has been MacArthur Airport on Long Island.

Newsday reported Monday that a new campaign to bring international commercial flights to MacArthur has now taken off with a unified push from federal and town politicians.

The effort is aimed at getting Federal Aviation Administration and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to work with the Town of Islip to make international service to and from the town-owned airport a reality, the daily reported.
