Div. 3 honors Ferguson

The William B. Burke Division Three, New York County Ancient Order of Hibernians will celebrate its 75th anniversary this coming Sunday, May 1st.

The celebration will take place from 2 to 6 p.m. at Rory Dolan's in Yonkers.

The honoree at the event will be J. Barney Ferguson. A release from the division said that Ferguson, who is a retired NYPD detective, will be saluted for his "tireless dedication to the Irish, Catholic and law enforcement communities."

Ferguson, who was an Irish Echo honoree in the paper's 2008 salute to the Bronx Irish, was grand marshal of the New York city St. Patrick's Day Parade in 1978 and has served as president of the NYC Police Emerald Society, the Leitrim Society and Division Three, NY County AOH.
