Three weeks after stopping Texan Kentrell Claiborne in Atlantic City, light heavyweight prospect Seanie Monaghan makes his Madison Square Garden debut against Anthony Pietrantonio this Saturday.

The six-rounder will be on the undercard of Filipino Nonito Donaire's WBC/WBO world bantamweight title defense against Omar Narvaez in the Garden's WaMu Theatre.

"I think he's Kelly Pavlik's sparring partner and he's pretty durable," Monaghan 9-0 [6 KOs] said of Pietrantonio who like the former world middleweight titlist and one-time John Duddy target hails from Youngstown, Ohio, and is trained by Jack Loew.

Monaghan is familiar with Pietrantonio's durability. On the same Times Square card where he beat Borngod Washington in October last year, Monaghan saw the Ohioan survive three knockdowns against one Isaiah Thomas in a six-rounder. Pietrantonio [7-7, 6 KOs] lost a unanimous points decision.

"We'll see if he'll get up when I hit him," Monaghan remarked. "But I'll be ready for six rounds and I'm sure that he'll be, too."

A wildly popular Long Beach, L.I., resident with County Meath roots, Monaghan was an impressive fourth round TKO winner over Claiborne in Atlantic City.
