Jordan makes it 60

By Irish Echo Staff

Fr. Brian Jordan has made his sixty. The New York-based Franciscan priest notched up his sixtieth marathon Monday when he completed the famed Boston Marathon in five hours 43 minutes, this despite tendonitis in the left foot.

But Jordan says that he will not keep his latest, and certainly landmark, marathon medal.

"I will give my marathon medal engraved "God Bless Erinn" to Boston resident and New York City hero, Erinn Phelan who worked for the mayor's office this past year and was severely injured while saving the life of fellow Brown University graduate in January," said Fr. Jordan.

"I visited her a couple times in Kings County Hospital during the winter," he said.

Jordan was planning to visit the hospital Tuesday with the medal. Erinn Phelan has been on life support since being struck by a car in what was a hit and run incident.
