Be prepared to move on an opportunity when it appears, but never forget about where you come from and the values that have made you the person you are today.

Jonanthan Powers is Chief Operating Officer of the Truman National Security Project, educating leaders on issues of national security. Previously, he served for four years as an Officer in the U.S. Army, including a 15 month tour in Iraq. In 2005, Powers founded War Kids Relief, returning to Baghdad as a civilian to engage Iraq's youth and minimize recruitment by extremists. War Kids Relief became a leading advocacy organization, working to create a bridge between American and Iraqi youth. In 2008, Powers was a candidate for New York's 26th Congressional District and is a member of AOH Division 1, Buffalo, N.Y.
