Rory Schulte

Where do you live? Great Falls, MT.

Current company and position? I am very fortunate to have bought my family business in my hometown of Great Falls, Montana. Schulte's 38th Street Store and Coffee House have been a locally owned gas station/convenience store and coffee shop, right in the heart of the neighborhood I grew up in, since 1989. My parents started the business, and my wife, Holli, and I bought out their long-lasting business partner in 2016. In 2022 my parents were ready to retire so we bought them out and are sole owners of what we consider to be a great tradition and staple in our community.

First job and what it taught me? My first job, as you could probably guess, was at the family store. Prior to being old enough to work as an employee behind the counter, in our family you were always old enough to bag ice. Probably around the summer between 4th and 5th grade I began my first job bagging ice for $.25/bag. We had an ice machine in the back, bags that needed to be stamped, filled, tied up and stocked. The lesson learned from that job was very simple - be accountable to the work you've committed to do.

How do you embrace your Irish heritage? I was raised in a big Irish/Italian Catholic family. Growing up in that type of family comes with great pride. I was always raised to be proud of my heritage(s) and be proud of where you come from. I have always been proud to be Irish, but the AOH has been a place where I could dig deeper into my ancestry and heritage, lead other Irish Catholic men to embrace their heritage, and help take care of our communities. I believe the core of the Irish culture is taking care of our families, and our communities. To embrace our Irish heritage means that we step up and strive to take care of those two things to the best of our ability every day. This is the core values of the AOH, of my business, and what I strive to have as a core value every day.

Something people would be surprised to know about me... Being from a town in Montana, owning a business, working in the AOH, and lending a helping hand to my amazing wife Holli in raising our twin girls, Briana and Gracie, it would seem like it would be a stretch if I told you that my college degree is from the School of Film and Photography at Montana State University. I studied to be a Director and Actor. I then spent three years living in Los Angeles "chasing the dream" until Holli and I decided it was time to move home and start a family.
