Patrick Walsh
Where do you live? Boston.
Current company and position? Business Manager Laborers’ Local #223 LiUNA!
First job and what it taught me? My first job was at the age of 15 I worked as a caddy at William Devine Public Golf Course. I was a member of Boston’s Caddy Scholar program and for part of the day we would learn the rules of the game of golf and caddy while the rest of the day we would be in an educational program. I learned hard work through physical labor as well as self-discipline. Golf is the only sport that you can call a penalty on yourself.
How do you embrace your Irish heritage? I embrace my Irish Heritage by educating my children about where our family comes from and the history of Ireland. I recently introduced my son to Gaelic Football and Hurling at the Irish Cultural Center in Canton, MA.
