First job and what it taught me? Part-Time Roots in Omagh: My initial part-time roles were in my hometown of Omagh, working at Sally's Bar. There, I learned to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments, honed my customer service abilities and discovered the joy of building genuine connections - all while having lots of fun. Stepping into the Corporate World: I joined CME Group in Belfast in data analytics. This role introduced me to professional corporate dynamics, underscored the importance of data accuracy and integrity, and exposed me to the intricacies of global financial markets.
How do you embrace your Irish heritage? Strengthening Community Ties: I actively support Irish-run events in both Manhattan and Belfast, ensuring I remain closely linked to the vibrant Irish community on both sides of the Atlantic. Mentoring the Next Generation: I enjoy meeting young Irish professionals arriving in New York City, offering guidance on their careers and introducing them to valuable contacts within my network.Promoting Educational and Career Opportunities: I maintain strong ties with my uni - Queen's University Belfast - most recently as a featured alumnus in their anniversary campaign - where I highlight the exciting career paths available in the thriving fintech hubs of Belfast and New York City. Regular Returns Home: I'm fortunate to travel back to Ireland quarterly for work, which allows me to stay immersed in the culture and reconnect with family and friends. I never tone down my distinctive Tyrone accent in any Wall Street meeting!
Something people would be surprised to know about me... Was a showjumper from 3 years old and first had the opportunity to represent Ireland showjumping for the national team at 7 years old.
Biography: From Omagh, Co. Tyrone, Harley is a prominent leader in New York’s fintech sector and a former showjumper who represented Ireland. After earning First-Class Honors from Queen’s University Belfast and following her role at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange in Belfast Harley joined Options Technology in 2019, relocating to New York to spearhead Americas growth and post-pandemic operations.
She has integrated three major acquisitions and lead teams in launching global data platforms. Harley champions diversity setting up the Options Women in Fintech initiative and remains a dedicated mentor. Outside of work, she enjoys New York’s social scene and staying active with solidcore!
