Where do you live? Marblehead, MA.
Current company and position? Principal at FinanceBoston.
First job and what it taught me? Working on farms in North Co. Dublin. The more enjoyable jobs were planting pumpkins and picking potatoes, and the toughest was picking stones from a field. At the age of 14, I learned the value of a day’s work and if you work hard and do a good job, you will get the phone call to come back tomorrow.
How do you embrace your Irish heritage? Living in Boston that is not hard, whether it’s GAA at the ICC in Canton or meeting friends for lunch or a pint in The Druid or The Dubliner. When I first arrived in Boston in 2009 a lot of Irish people helped me out either with work or friendship, ands becasue of this i try to pay it forward and look for opportunities where I can help someone else out. The Irish in Boston are good at looking out for each other and it's just keeping that tradition alive.
Something people would be surprised to know about me... I was two-time U-19 badminton champion of my secondary school (Colàiste Choilm Swords)!
Biography: Brian Rooney (37) is a Principal at FinanceBoston and primarily responsible for originating debt and equity for real estate investors and developers in the Boston area. With 12 years’ experience in real estate finance, Brian has a proven track record in capitalizing a wide array of property type and developments including multifamily, office, retail, and pre-development land.
A native of Lusk, Co. Dublin, Brian received his Bachelor's degree in Accounting & Finance from the National College of Ireland and a Master’s in Business Management from Maynooth University.
