Alexander Marion
Where do you live? Syracuse, New York.
Current company and position? City Auditor, City of Syracuse.
First job and what it taught me? My first job was an internship US Senator Chuck Schumer's local office while I was in high school. I was one of the youngest interns they had hired. The Senator and his team showed me that working harder accomplishes so much: being the first to arrive, last to leave, always willing to volunteer. Those are lessons I carry with myself today as an elected leader and for which I am very grateful.
How do you embrace your Irish heritage? Being Irish American is a part of my identity I think of every day, and it's so easy to celebrate our heritage right here in Syracuse. Whether it's enjoying great Irish live music or patronizing local Irish restaurants and businesses - like Kitty Hoynes, Blarney Stone, Cashel House, and Coleman's - I am lucky to be in a community that embraces its historic ties to Ireland.
Something people would be surprised to know about me... I am the youngest elected official in Syracuse city government.
