Dublin, Mayo and Kerry have come through their Round 3 games and will face Galway, Cork and Tyrone respectively in the All Ireland senior championship quarterfinals at Croke Park over the weekend of June 27-28.
Round 3 games pitted teams who’d won one and lost one game since Round 1. Dublin disposed of Donegal, who’d been many pundits’ tip for an All Ireland triumph this year, in a 2-26 to 2-22 result after extra time.
Monaghan ended Westmeath’s unlikely Sam campaign at Clones, 1-28 to 2-19, and will on Sunday, June 28, face another Leinster team, Louth, who were knocked out in the Leinster semis by the Dubs but have had a good run in the All Ireland series. Mayo had a three-point home win over Meath to earn a last-8 game against Cork, on Saturday, June 27, and a win in that would have the Westerners reviving their dreams of Sam Maguire glory. And Kerry will renew acquaintance with Tyrone, also on the Saturday, following their very easy win over the Red Hand’s Ulster rivals Armagh. And Dublin, who last won in 2023, will face Galway, the defeated finalists in 2022 and 2024, on Sunday, June 28.
