Comptroller DiNapoli will address the 17th annual New York-New Belfast conference luncheon in New York - just days before he faces the electorate in the New York State Democratic Primary for New York State.
It's expected that the Comptroller, who has been in office for almost 20 years, will address the success of funds allocated from New York State retirees' funds to early-stage companies in the North of Ireland in order to bolster the peace process.
As New York State Comptroller, Comptroller DiNapoli has made $111m in private equity commitments to start-ups and early-stage companies in Northern Ireland. “Our commitments in Northern Ireland have provided a solid return for the Fund, and that’s good news for the 1.2 million working and retired members of our pension system," he told the Echo back in 2024.
Also addressing the annual gathering which brings together leaders from Belfast and Irish America will be Karen Kerrigan, founder and President of the the Small Business Economic Council in Washington D.C. and Alison Metcalfe who heads up Tourism Ireland in North America.
Up to 20 businesses will travel to the conference with Belfast Chamber of Commerce CEO Clare Guinness to search out opportunities in the Big Apple.
Tickets for the New York-New Belfast luncheon are available online.
Said Connla McCann of Aisling Events which champions the transatlantic partnership between the two cities: "Our New York-based conference honorary chairs act as honorary ambassadors for Belfast throughout the year and really work hard to ensure our visitors not only get a warm welcome but also secure the business connections they covet. In turbulent time, the friendships we have build over the past 17 years act as an anchor between the great cities of Belfast and New York."
Irish American leaders have been voicing support for Comptroller DiNapoli ahead of the June 23 primary, coming out in support of an Irish Echo endorsement.
