'A Quiet Love' for Craic LGBT Film Fest at NY Irish Center

Craic LGBT Film Fest is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, June 18, and will be hosted in partnership with the New York Irish Center, which is the venue.

The Film Fest will feature “A Quiet Love (An Grá Ciúin),” directed by Gary Keane, which is Ireland’s first feature documentary told entirely through Irish Sign Language. “A Quiet Love” captures the remarkable love stories of three Deaf couples told through Irish and British Sign Language: a decades-long forbidden romance between a Catholic and Protestant Deaf couple during the Northern Ireland Troubles, a same-sex couple from Cork and Belfast navigating parenthood with Deaf and hearing children, and a Deaf boxer and his hearing partner from Dublin facing a life-altering choice. “A Quiet Love” is a cinematic celebration of resilience, connection, and enduring love.

Festival Director Terence Mulligan commented, “We are excited to have such a groundbreaking award-winning film. What really excites us about this film is how the director (Gary Keane) explores the universality of resilience and enduring love.”
