"As a senior member of both the Senate Appropriations Committee and the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, Senator Murkowski is an invaluable ally as we continue advancing this critical, lifesaving legislation.

"Senator Murkowski now joins a growing bipartisan group of Senate co-sponsors, including, Susan Collins (R-ME), Chair of the Appropriations Committee, Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senator Minority Leader, Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), and Andy Kim (D-NJ).

"So many of you have stood with End Sepsis these past months on Capitol Hill, meeting with senators and their staff and continuing the momentum with persistent follow-up emails and phone calls. Your dedication and determination are truly paying off."

“We are delighted to have Senator Murkowski sign on as co-sponsor to this life-saving legislation, S.1929. Our hard work is paying off; however, we must now intensify our efforts to get more Senators on board,” said Orlaith Staunton, Executive Director of End Sepsis.

"We need your help to pass S.1929, our  Lifesaving Sepsis Act, in the United States Senate!Email me at cstaunton@endsepsis.org or call us at 917-251-0739 to learn how you can help advance the Sepsis Act."

The new congressional budget includes $5 million for the CDC to expand sepsis programs, a $2 million increase over last year.

Said Ciaran Staunton: "Just three years ago, sepsis had never received line-item federal funding. Today, that has changed," said Ciaran Staunton, co-founder of End Sepsis. Since 2022, we have worked relentlessly to change that, successfully advocating for year-over-year increases.

"To our allies and supporters who made this possible – by sharing your sepsis stories with lawmakers, lending your voices, and financially supporting this work – thank you. This progress belongs to you. And if you have not yet joined the fight, now is the time. Together, we can continue to build on this momentum and ensure sepsis receives the attention, resources, and urgency it demands."

Ciaran and Orlaith Staunton lost their son Rory to sepsis in 2012 and later set up the End Sepsis Foundation with the aim of raising awareness of sepsis and to prevent the kind of loss that their family had experienced.
