On Sunday 15 February Irish Northern Aid of Connecticut held its annual Bloody Sunday Mass and breakfast gathering at the Irish American Home in Glastonbury.
"The commemorative event was postponed from 25 January due to a snow storm," explained spokesman Colin O'Neill. "We were delighted to see over 100 people attend a beautiful service in memory of all those killed on 30 January 1972 in Derry."
Aisling Hutton, Sinn Féin Councilor from Derry, who was scheduled to give the keynote address in January, sent a heartfelt letter that was read after the mass.
"Aisling emphasized the crucial role of Irish American support of the people of Derry seeking truth, justice and accountability," said Colin, adding: "U.S. Congressman John Larson also addressed the gathering reminding everyone of the significant role of Irish America in the Good Friday Agreement and in the campaign for the eventual reunification of Ireland."
