Lynch’s Recruiter remains perfect

Recruiter ran his record to 4-for-4 with a convincing victory in the Parx Juvenile last Tuesday. The 3-year-old colt, trained by Cathal Lynch, stalked the early pace in this seven-furlong dash over sloppy going, moved up to challenge entering the far turn and drew away in midstretch to score by almost three lengths. Mychel Sanchez rode Recruiter, which paid $4.60 to win. Lynch owns Recruiter in partnership with Nick Sanna.

Kieron Magee sent out the winners of three races at Laurel on Friday. The first victor was Robert Beck’s Albertano, a product of the Rooney Family’s Shamrock Farm. This 5-year-old gelding rallied from far back under Jose Rodriguez to win by a head in his second race off the Magee claim. He paid $11.60 to win.

Dulce Kiara, a 5-year-old mare owned by Timothy Hopkins, gave Magee his second win of the afternoon when she and Rodriguez made the lead out of the gate and stayed there, winning by five lengths. Magee took her for $8,000 six weeks prior and dropped her in for a nickel here. There were no takers. She returned $4.80 to win.

Super C Racing’s Honor the Fleet completed Magee’s triple in the seventh race. The 9-year-old gelding won for the third time in his last four races when he toughed out a one-length victory in a starter/optional claimer at seven furlongs. C.E. Lopez had the mount on the $6.00 winner.

Fergus Bogle recorded his first win since 2017 when his T J Munnings got up under Gerardo Corrales to win the nightcap at Turfway Park on Friday. The 5-year-old gelding sported a 1-for-26 life mark entering this nickel claiming mile at the $7,500 tier. He returned $5.78 to win.

Earlier on the card at Turfway, in the sixth race, runners from the barns of Brendan Walsh and Paul McEntee comprised the exacta. Puglia, trained by Walsh and ridden by Jane Elliott, was a four-length winner over Queen in the North in this maiden claiming sprint. Both fillies were claimed out of the race. Puglia paid $9.88 to win and keyed a $63.76 exacta with the McEntee filly.
