Ireland To The Fore At UN

Ireland, led by Ambassador Geraldine Byrne Nason, has been to the fore on the United Nations Security Council as it attempts to secure a ceasefire in the escalating conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. Ambassador Byrne Nason outlined Ireland's efforts in an interview Saturday on the BBC World Service. Thus far, however, diplomacy has not been able to stop and replace the fighting which, according to estimates, has left hundreds dead. Ireland currently holds a two-year rotating seat on the Security Council for the 2021-22 term.
