Former Irish international Wes Hoolahan is back in England. The 38 year-old midfielder last week signed for League Two club Cambridge United. The Dubliner moved to Australia last year after being released by West Brom and sign for Newcastle Jets. But now he is back. Acknowledging his expected role as an elder statesman at Abbey Road, the former Shelbourne, Livingston, Blackpool and Norwich playmaker added that he hopes to impart his experience to the younger generation at his new club. Wes, who spent a few weeks on trial with Cambridge last season, said: ‘‘I have got a lot of experience in the game. I hope to help the young lads at Cambridge move forward and by putting my imprint on the boys and good standards at training and stuff like that, hopefully it will rub off on them.’’
