Seamus Scanlon of City College Downtown has been shortlisted by RTÉ for the 2019 PJ O'Connor Radio Drama award. “The Butterfly Love Song” story won him the Over The Edge New Writer of the Year title in 2011. The story was then translated into Spanish by his City College Downtown colleague Professor Carlos Aguasaco and included in the collection “Irlanda en el corazón.” Galway City native Scanlon wrote the screen version of the story for Morgan Creative and the short film features music by the Boomtown Rats and the Outcasts. Meanwhile, Scanlon will read at the Americas Poetry Festival of New York, which takes place from Oct. 2-4. For more details go here.
